The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has issued a "red flag warning" for Aitkin, Carlton, Itasca and St. Louis counties Monday.
A red flag warning means the area is experiencing weather conditions that are ideal for wildfire, including strong winds and minimum humidity values, according to a news release. People are asked not to burn while the warning remains in effect and are asked to check any burning done recently to ensure the fire is out.
Any spark could become a wildfire under red flag conditions, the news release said. The warning expires at 7 p.m.
