Duluth warming centers open Monday and Tuesday nights

CHUM will activate its emergency warming centers Monday and Tuesday nights.

The Gloria Dei Center, 219 N. Sixth Ave. E., and Harmony Club Center, off 25th Avenue West between Fourth and Fifth streets, both open at 8 p.m. Monday and close both Tuesday and Wednesday at 8 a.m. On Tuesday, Gloria Dei will open at 9 p.m. to accommodate evening choir practice.

The CHUM drop-in center, 125 N. First Ave W., also operates as a warming center and is open every night regardless of temperature.

In Superior, the Ruth House, 632 Grand Ave., is open as a warming center from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. when the temperature is 40 degrees or colder.

The Duluth Transit Authority offers free rides to and from the warming centers from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Riders must specify that they are going to a warming center.
