A new initiative in Duluth called “Stepping On Up” is working to boost shelter capacity, create low-cost housing to get people off the streets, and, most immediately, designate safe places where unhoused Duluthians can park or camp.
Incorporating features such as large solar panels and double insulation, Green New Deal Housing aims to construct affordable homes for middle-class families. Next on the horizon are plans to build on three sites in Superior.
The Brewery Creek Terrace will have 16 affordable housing units and five market-rate housing units. The renovation is part of a partnership of investments from Heirloom Property Management, One Roof Community Housing, Superior Choice Credit Union and Essentia Health.
