Minnesota Duluth scored a pair of third-period power-play goals Saturday afternoon to pull away from the Minnesota Whitecaps for a 5-2 exhibition victory at Amsoil Arena. The Bulldogs opened the season with a 5-3 win Friday.
Junior Jamie Kenyon, and seniors Pernilla Winberg and Katie Wilson gave the Bulldogs a 3-0 first-period lead. Former Boston College forward Allie Thunstrom scored a pair of second-period goals for the Whitecaps, assisted twice by former UMD center Jenny Potter.
The Bulldogs broke from a 3-2 lead with goals in the final period from sophomores Jenna McParkland at 4:53 and Zoe Hickel. UMD, leading in shots on goal 33-24, again used two freshman goalies, Kayla Black and Sofia Carlstrom.
The No. 7-ranked Bulldogs begin the regular season Friday against Ohio State in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association series at Amsoil Arena.
