Andrew Towns tossed a three-hitter and struck out four as the Willmar Stingers blanked the Duluth Huskies 5-0 in a Northwoods League baseball game Thursday night before 982 at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar, Minn.
Max Ayoub hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and Dan Motl did likewise in the seventh to provide Towns with all the offense he needed in the complete-game victory. Willmar improved to 7-3 and owns a share of the lead in the Northern Division.
Keach Ballard had two of the Huskies’ three hits.
Kevin Peters took the loss, allowing six hits and four earned runs in 6â…“ innings.
The Huskies (3-7), losers of three straight, return to Wade Stadium for the first of two games against Rochester at 6:35 p.m. today.
