BLAINE, Minn. — Niklas Miller scored twice as the Shreveport Mudbugs opened the North American Hockey League Showcase with a 3-1 win at the Minnesota Wilderness' expense on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the Schwan's Super Rink.
Miller's first of the game came 1:44 from the opening faceoff. The game remained 1-0 Shreveport until the 9:36 mark of the third period, when Miller scored on the power play.
Cole Gordon put the Wilderness on the board with a power play tally at 13:31 of the third but instead of an equalizer, Minnesota ended up allowing an empty-net goal with :49 left to seal it.
Isak Posch made 30 saves for Minnesota, which was outshot 33-20.
Minnesota (0-3) continues play at the Showcase with a 4:45 game against the Northeast Generals.
