White Sox top Twins in 10 innings

MINNEAPOLIS - Dayan Viciedo’s 18th homer of the season leading off the 10th inning helped the Chicago White Sox to a 6-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday at Target Field. Viciedo, Chicago’s designated hitter, hammered a full-count fastball from Twins right-hander Lester Oliveros 402 feet to the opposite field and over the wall in right-center field. Later in the inning, White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers added a two-run homer, his second homer of the game for his first multi-home run game of his career. The outing was a rough re-introduction into the Twins lineup for Oliveros, called up Tuesday from Class AAA Rochester and making his first major league appearance in more than two years following Tommy John surgery in August of 2012. White Sox right- hander Daniel Webb got the win, improving to 6-4 this season. Chicago closer Jake Petricka worked a scoreless 10th for his 11th save. Minnesota jumped out to an early lead, getting a two-run homer from designated hitter Kennys Vargas in the bottom of the first, his fifth of the season, for a 2-0 lead. Twins starter Tommy Milone lasted only 3⅔ innings, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks while throwing 86 pitches. He did not figure into the decision.
