Outlook: The Mariners blanked Cook County 18-0 last week for their fourth shutout in the past two seasons. Quarterback Luc Stadler tossed two touchdown passes and Elijah Blanck kicked two field goals in the win, though the Mariners fumbled twice on the goal line. Silver Bay’s only defeat was 42-0 to Cherry, which lost 32-20 to South Ridge last week. Silver Bay lost this matchup last season, 25-6. … In the win over Cherry, Panthers senior running back Connor Bushbaum (74 carries, Northland-leading 1,035 yards, 10 TDs in 2020) gained 347 yards on 21 attempts and scored four touchdowns of 50-plus yards. Bushbaum, who had 1,700 all-purpose yards as a junior, has rushed for more than 200 yards in every game this season and is averaging 14 yards per carry. Due to that excellent rushing attack, the Panthers haven’t needed to throw very often but have completed 7 of 10 passes.
