Kate Berg totaled 14 kills and Emily Balts recorded 37 set assists to lead sixth-ranked Minnesota Duluth to a 3-0 victory over Rockhurst University and a sweep of Saturday's play in the Texan Invitational at Stephenville, Texas.

The Bulldogs also swept West Alabama 25-20, 25-13, 25-14 earlier in the day behind Hanna Meyer's 12 kills and Balts' 37 assists. Berg and Abby Thor each added 11 kills.

In the 25-19, 25-22, 25-17 win over Rockhurst, UMD hit .294 as a team, including a stellar .326 in the final set.

The Bulldogs went 3-1 in the season-opening tournament.

  • St. Scholastica finished off a perfect weekend with wins over Concordia University-Chicago and Finlandia University on Saturday.

The Saints' Morgan Lohmiller had 16 kills and Jessica Remer added 13 in a 19-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-20 victory over Concordia.

CSS hit .396 in the 25-6, 25-10, 25-8 rout of Finlandia.

  • Wisconsin-Superior won twice at its own Stinger Invitational, beating Nebraska Wesleyan and Crown College by 3-1 scores at Mertz Mortorelli Gym.

Cami Sletta had 17 kills in a 25-22, 20-25, 25-23, 25-15 win over Nebraska Wesleyan, while she added 19 kills in the Yellowjackets' 22-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-18 win over Crown.
