Laura Fridfinnson scored two goals to lead a Minnesota Duluth comeback in the Bulldogs' 3-1 Western Collegiate Hockey Association women's victory over top-ranked Minnesota before a crowd of 1,248 spectators at the DECC on Friday night.
Fridfinnson scored her 14th goal of the season to tie the game at 1 at 12:53 of the second period, and then scored an insurance goal at 8:06 of the third period. She also assisted on Katherine Wilson's game-winning goal 43 seconds into the final period. Wilson also has 15 goals this season.
Jennifer Harss stopped 42 shots, including 20 in the opening period, as the fifth-ranked Bulldogs (20-7-2 overall, 16-5-2 WCHA) closed within five points of the league-leading Gophers (21-4-4, 17-3-3).
Alyssa Grogan made 23 saves for Minnesota.
The teams meet again at 7:07 p.m. today.
