Bulldogs picked third in NSIC
Minnesota Duluth is picked to finish third in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, according to the league coaches' poll released Thursday.
Four-time defending NCAA Division II champion Concordia-St. Paul is picked to win the conference, garnering 169 points and 13 first-place votes.
Southwest Minnesota State was second with 146 points and the other first-place vote, followed by UMD (143), Wayne State (142), Minnesota State-Mankato (120), Augustana (106), Minnesota State-Moorhead (93), St. Cloud State and Winona State (81 each), Northern State and Upper Iowa (55 each), Bemidji State (41), Mary and Minnesota-Crookston (21 each).
Concordia senior outside hitter Megan Carlson was named NSIC Preseason Player of the Year. UMD, which has made nine straight NCAA playoff appearances, opens practice Monday.
