Minnesota Duluth rallied to beat Northern State 11-9 to salvage a split of the teams' Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader Saturday in Aberdeen, S.D., and clinch a berth in the conference postseason tournament.
The Bulldogs (14-24 overall, 14-10 NSIC) trailed 4-2 before scoring nine runs in a three-inning stretch to take an 11-7 lead. Reliever Jordan Smith struck out two of three batters he faced in the ninth inning to secure the win, UMD's 10th in the last 14 games. Kyle Comer hit two home runs and drove in four runs.
The Wolves (15-27, 8-20) won the opening game 5-4.
UMD will find out this weekend which team it will play first in the double-elimination conference tournament.
