An exhibition game marks the opening of the Minnesota Duluth men's hockey season at 6:07 p.m. today at Amsoil Arena against Lakehead University of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Seven first-year players are in the 22-player lineup for the defending Division I champions.
Missing from the roster is sophomore winger J.T. Brown of Burnsville, Minn., sitting out a one-game suspension for a violation of team rules. Brown, named outstanding player of the 2011 NCAA Frozen Four, was charged in June with providing Duluth police a false identification and an attempt to flee, a gross misdemeanor and a demeanor.
Also sidelined is sophomore center Max Tardy, who is injured.
The No. 8-rated Bulldogs open the regular season Friday and Saturday at home in a nonconference series with top-ranked Notre Dame.
