UMD hockey squad to visit White House next week

The Minnesota Duluth women's hockey team will be honored by President George W. Bush at the White House in Washington, D.C. on June 24.

The NCAA Division I national championship team will be part of a 2:30 p.m. ceremony on the South Lawn.

Previous UMD championship teams were honored by President Bush in 2001, 2002 and 2003.

Last season, UMD beat New Hampshire 3-2 and Wisconsin 4-0 to capture the NCAA Women's Frozen Four at the DECC on March 20 and 22.

The Bulldogs set a school record at 34 wins, with Western Collegiate Hockey Association regular season and playoff titles.

UMD Chancellor Kathryn A. Martin will make the trip with the team.
