The recent heavy rainfall washed out a segment of hiking trail at Chester Park, the city of Duluth reported Wednesday.
The affected part of the trail is located on the east side of the creek, between Skyline Parkway and the Eighth Street bridge. Trail closure signs are in place leading up to and around the affected area, along with orange fencing.
The repair timeline was not known Wednesday, pending the completion of further assessment work. The city has requested that the public avoid that area and instead use the trail on the west side of Chester Creek. The pedestrian bridge near Eighth Street is open for trail users to safely cross the creek to the west side.
