Minnesota Duluth junior Haleigh Reindl finished second in her 800-meter preliminary heat Friday to qualify for the finals at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Allendale, Michigan.

Reindl posted a personal-best time of 2 minutes, 9.08 seconds to qualify the nine-runner finals at 5:45 p.m. Saturday.

"Haleigh executed her race perfectly today, and we are excited to do it all over again tomorrow," Bulldogs head coach Laura Harmon said in a news release.

A top-eight finish would give Reindl her first All-America honor in her fifth combined indoor and outdoor championships. Two previous Bulldogs have won NCAA titles.
