Duluth East's Ty Kruger and Dane Patten finished fourth in the Minnesota Class AA boys state tennis doubles tournament this week after dropping a pair of matches Friday at Prior Lake High School.

Kruger and Patten lost to second-seeded Christo Alex and Emmanuel Alex of Mounds View in the semifinals 6-2, 6-0. The Mounds View duo went on to finish second after losing to the top seed from Edina, Otto Schreiner and Luke Westholder, 7-5, 6-4, in the state doubles championship.

Kruger and Patten lost a tight, three-set third-place match to Mahtomedi's Brandon Pham and Dylan Pham. The Greyhounds duo won the first set 7-5 before losing the second 6-4 and a tiebreaker 10-4.

The championship and third place matches Friday in Prior Lake were delayed by approximately 90 minutes due to rain.
