Tadewald leads Cloquet Invitational

Bill Tadewald of Hopkins, Minn., shot a 1-under-par 71 Friday to take the first-round lead of the 81st Cloquet Invitational at Cloquet Country Club to lead a championship-flight field of 47.

Bill Tadewald of Hopkins, Minn., shot a 1-under-par 71 Friday to take the first-round lead of the 81st Cloquet Invitational at Cloquet Country Club to lead a championship-flight field of 47.

Tied for second at 72 are Frank Mertz of Duluth, Jim Stafford of Carlton and former champion Jamie Langenbrunner of the St. Louis Blues, a Cloquet native who has a summer home in Moose Lake.

Dan Moline of Duluth, the 2012 Reidar Lund Memorial winner, was tied at 73 with Gary Carlson.

The 54-hole tournament continues with 18 holes today and 18 Sunday.
