GREEN BAY - After spotting Mukwonago six points to start the game, Superior has battled back and trails 24-22 at halftime of the teams' Division 1 semifinal at the Wisconsin girls basketball tournament tonight at the Resch Center.
The Spartans, led by Jessica Lindstrom's seven points and Hailey Kontny's six, overcame a sluggish start with their own 7-0 burst that gave them a 7-6 lead, and the teams traded baskets the rest of the way.
Bre Cera, the Indians' leading scorer, made a layup just before the halftime buzzer to send Mukwonago into the break leading by two.
The Indians were state runners-up a year ago, while Superior advanced to its second state tournament last season.
The winner of this game plays Oak Creek, a 46-40 overtime winner in the night's first semifinal against Kimberly, in Saturday night's final.
