Four athletes, a school president and a championship team comprise the 2012 St. Scholastica Athletic Hall of Fame enshrinement class, which will be honored Sept. 14 on campus. It will mark the school's second year of inductions.
Athletes selected are men's hockey goalie Bill Courchaine (1974-78), a three-time NAIA All-American; women's basketball center Janice Monsaas Sayovitz (1984-88), a 1988 National Little College Athletic Association all-tournament selection; men's basketball forward Tim Radosevich (1988-91), the program's career scoring leader and two-time National Small College Athletic Association All-American; and runner Desiree Budd Essler (1999-2002), a three-time NAIA All-American in cross country and 2001 NAIA runner up.
Francis X. Shea was St. Scholastica's president from 1971-74 and started intercollegiate athletics at the school in 1972 with men's hockey. He died in 1977.
The 1987-88 St. Scholastica women's basketball team finished 25-6 (10-0 in the Midwest Women's Collegiate Conference) and won the National Little College Athletic Association title with a victory over Concordia-Seward (Neb.) 72-65.
