Basketball: The 25th annual Northwestern 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is March 30-31 at Northwestern High School in Maple. On Saturday, there will be divisions for boys and girls grades 3-4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 while on Sunday boys and girls grades 9, 10 and 11-12 will be played.
Men will have an A, B and over-30 division, and a dunk contest will be held. Entry fee: $45 per team, due March 26. Entry forms are available at Globe News, Shirts Unlimited and the YMCA in Superior; Nelson's Speed Stop in Poplar; Bretting Youth Center in Ashland; or online at ifan.tv. • Tryouts for the spring/summer Northern Lights basketball team are March 10 and March 17 at Wisconsin-Superior. Grade 11 (invite only) is from 1:30-3:30 p.m.; grades 8-10 is 1:30-3:30 p.m. and grades 5-7 is 3:30-5:30 p.m. Not required to attend both sessions. Spring sports meeting: Superior's spring sports meeting is 6:30 p.m. Monday at the high school's performing arts center. The meeting is for all students and their parent/guardian, planning to play a spring sport. All potential spring athletes must be registered at least three days before the start of their season. Students not registered cannot tryout for a team.
