Mady Stariha and Lauren Dixon earned pitching wins as Minnesota Duluth swept Wayne State in the Bulldogs’ home-opening NSIC doubleheader Friday at Malosky Stadium.

Kelly Swank’s triple scored Taylor Koehnen with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Bulldogs rallied to win the opener, scoring three runs over the final two innings.

Stariha, of Superior, allowed just one run on four hits in 3 2/3 innings in relief of Corrie Weise. She had three strikeouts in improving to 4-1. Koehnen, Swank, Lauren Oberle and Jessica Bren had two hits apiece to lead the UMD offense.

Dixon tossed a six-hit shutout with five strikeouts in the rematch in improving to 5-2. Kiana Bender of Cloquet had a double and two RBIs and Oberle scored two runs for the Bulldogs (14-0 overall, 4-0 NSIC).

Ashley Hernandez and Jenna Etmans had two hits apiece to lead the Wildcats (3-13, 0-4).
