After losing the opener 6-1, St. Scholastica cranked up the bats to down 17th-ranked St. Olaf 10-7 in the rematch to earn a nonconference split Saturday in college softball at Reynolds Field in St. Paul.
Julie Graf tossed a three-hitter and mowed down the Saints with 16 strikeouts in the opener. Kari Breuer scored St. Scholastica’s lone run. Olivia Howe’s RBI single in the top of the first but that was it as Graf only faced 26 batters.
St. Scholastica set the tone early in the rematch with five runs in the first inning as Josie Fourre cranked a grand slam. She finished with six RBIs for CSS (13-3) while Mara Seurer scored two runs. Howe (7-1) wasn’t great, but good enough to get the pitching win. Hannah Matthies had three hits, including two doubles, a run and three RBIs to lead St. Olaf (2-2).
