Wisconsin-Superior announced the hiring of Melissa Fracker as head softball coach Tuesday.
Fracker replaces Nick Bursik, who served as interim coach the past two seasons and is in his fifth year as the school’s athletic director.
“Throughout the search process the conversations the committee was having kept coming back to Melissa and how she checked all the boxes we were looking for,” Bursik said in a news release.
Fracker served as assistant coach since 2013 at Western Connecticut State University, her alma mater, helping the Colonials to a pair of Little East Conference titles and NCAA Division III tournament appearances.
“Softball is a sport I am very passionate about and the UW-Superior program has seen success on the conference and national levels,” Fracker said in a statement. “I am thrilled with the professional opportunity to lead a program with this type of history.”
The Yellowjackets were 5-5 when the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
