Jamie Trachsel has left her position as the Gophers’ head softball coach, a source confirmed to the Pioneer Press on Thursday.
Trachsel, a Duluth native, is expected to be named head coach at Mississippi, with the university's Twitter account teasing the news with a GIF of a Gopher.
Trachsel led Minnesota to the program’s first Women’s College World Series last season with 46-14 record. They were 15-9-1 before the coronavirus shutdown the 2020 season.
Trachsel finished with a 102-40-1 record at the U and made two consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. She replaced Jessica Allister, who left for her alma mater Sanford after her fifth NCAA appearances in Minnesota in 2017.
This news comes after star pitcher Amber Fiser and three other key players said they were coming back with the NCAA extending eligibility to seniors given COVID-19.
