College softball: Bulldogs split in Florida opener
Minnesota Duluth defeated Hillsdale College 4-1 in its tournament opener Wednesday and then had its 10-game win streak at the College Spring Games in Clermont, Fla., ended with a 2-0 loss to the 24th-ranked University of Indianapolis.
UMD freshman Sam Pederson scattered eight hits and walked three in the complete-game win over the Chargers. Hillsdale left 12 runners on base and went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
Junior infielder Lauren Oberle's bases-loaded single sparked a three-run first inning for UMD (4-7).
Indianapolis pitcher Amy Kaniewski hurled a one-hitter with seven strikeouts in the second game.
