Kai Hoffman recorded a hat trick as third-seeded Duluth East upended No. 2 seed Andover 6-3 in a Section 7AA boys soccer semifinal Monday at Andover.
Hoffman broke a 1-1 tie late in the first half, then struck on a free kick early in the second half for a 3-1 lead. He netted the natural hat trick minutes later.
David Wallerstein scored twice in the final minutes to send the Greyhounds (12-1) to the section final against either Blaine or Centennial. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday night, pending weather changes.

Jillian McCullough scored in the first half and Brenna Mattson and Alexa Snesrud tacked on second-half goals to lead the top-seeded Lumberjacks to the 7A semifinal win at Egerdahl Field in Proctor.
The Lumberjacks (12-1-1) will face Duluth Marshall, a 1-0 winner over St. Francis, in the final at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Cloquet-Carlton recorded 18 shots on goal and allowed only one.
