Snocross rider Daniel Benham Jr. of Deer River is the Amsoil Championship Snocross Pro rookie of the year.

Benham finished fifth in the Pro standings with 653 points. Elias Ishoel won his first championship with 771 points, followed by Kody Kamm (722), Tim Tremblay (661) and Adam Renheim (659).

Benham, who earned his first Pro win on Feb. 2 at Mount Pleasant, Mich., capped his season by having a strong finish at the Grand Finale this past weekend in Lake Geneva, Wis., winning all four of his heat races on his Arctic Cat. Benham moved up to the Pro ranks this season after winning the Pro Lite title last year.
