College skiing:St. Scholastica Nordic ski coach Chad Salmela has been named the Central Collegiate Ski Association men's coach of the year. Salmela guided the Saints to their first podium finish at the regional championships with a third-place showing over the weekend. He will coach Jeremy Hecker and Sharmila Ahmed at next week's NCAA skiing championships in Middlebury, Vt.
