St. Scholastica plays St. Thomas in a season-opening NCAA Division III showdown at the Metrodome on Monday in Minneapolis.

The teams will play two games starting at 5 p.m.

St. Thomas, which lost 10 of its first 14 games in 2011, came back to win 17 of its next 18 games and advanced to its 16th NCAA regional in the past 17 years.

St. Scholastica, meanwhile, is ranked 14th this season after going 37-7 last season while advancing to the regional final for the second time in four seasons. Among the top returners are Upper Midwest Athletic Conference player of the year Kyle Moody and second-team all-region selection Brandon Peterson.
