Running: Gearing Up seminar Saturday

Former University of Wisconsin runner Michelle Frey of Minneapolis will be the featured speaker in the annual Gearing Up for Grandma's seminar Saturday at Essentia Health's First Street Building in Duluth. The event runs from 9-11 a.m.

Former University of Wisconsin runner Michelle Frey of Minneapolis will be the featured speaker in the annual Gearing Up for Grandma's seminar Saturday at Essentia Health's First Street Building in Duluth. The event runs from 9-11 a.m.

Frey, 30, a native of Iowa City, Iowa, finished third in the 2012 USA Half Marathon Championships in Duluth in a personal-best 1 hour, 11 minutes, 45 seconds. She has a marathon best of 2:35:51 and competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials in the women's marathon in 2008 and 2012.

The free-to-the-public seminar also features Grandma's Marathon medical director Ben Nelson, Essentia Health registered dietician Heather Pitschka, and Tortoise and Hare Footwear owners Jim and Mary Stukel.
