Minnesota Duluth rallied from a two-goal deficit Saturday afternoon to defeat Minnesota State-Mankato 5-2 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association women's game at the DECC.
The No. 5-ranked Bulldogs (2-1) trailed 2-0 after one period after Mankato goals by Emmi Leionen and Kathleen Rogan. But UMD struck for four second-period goals, including Laura Fridfinnson's go-head score with 6:02 remaining. Senior center Haley Irwin added a goal with 56 seconds left in the second period and scored again with 4:21 left in the game.
UMD outshot Mankato 42-19. Sophomore Jennifer Harss started in goal for the Bulldogs and was replaced in the second period by senior Kim Martin. The Mavericks are 1-1-1 and 0-1 in the WCHA.
The teams meet again at 3:07 p.m. today at the DECC.
