UMD isn't reporting any injuries after being off last weekend. Winger Cody Danberg, following knee surgery Aug. 17, returned to limited practice this week. He's going through skating drills but not having contact.

The word from UMD's locker room Wednesday was of an Afternoon Hockey League three-on-three, post-practice battle Tuesday as the team's top line of Mike Connolly-Jack-Connolly-Justin Fontaine faced assistant coaches and former Bulldogs Brett Larson-Derek Plante-Bill Watson. According to best available reports, the best-of-three series went to the coaches 2-1. Games are decided by the first line to score two goals.
Another former Bulldog, winger Mason Raymond, had his second career hat trick (and four points) for the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night in Calgary, Alberta, not too far from home, in a 7-2 victory. The Minneapolis Star Tribune had a boys high school hockey preview this week, including a Twin Cities preseason Dream Team. Among three forwards was Wayzata senior forward Tony Cameranesi, a UMD recruit.
In the American Hockey League on Wednesday, the Connecticut Whale, coached by Coleraine native Ken Gernander, lost 2-1 in a shootout to the Worcester Sharks, with Alex Stalock in goal. the Stamford Plus has a story here.
