Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Garnett said he is interested in owning the Minnesota Timberwolves someday, Yahoo Sports reported.

"I want to buy the Timberwolves. Put a group together and perhaps some day try to buy the team. That's what I want," Garnett told Yahoo Sports after the Nets' 107-99 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night.

Garnett played 12 seasons with the Timberwolves, who made him the fifth overall pick in the 1995 NBA draft.

Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor told the Associated Press in May he was looking for a minority partner. The Timberwolves president and coach is Flip Saunders, who was Garnett's coach with the Timberwolves.

"That is the one that has my interest. I have ties there. Flip's there," said Garnett, 38.

Forbes Magazine valued the Timberwolves franchise at $430 million in January, but the next NBA television contract probably will raise the franchise's value.

Garnett has made $315 million in his NBA career and is scheduled to make $12 million more this season. That does not include the millions of dollars he has made in endorsements.
