Defensive back Demitrice Whittaker returned an interception for a touchdown with two minutes remaining Saturday as the Lake Superior Rage of Duluth defeated the North Bank Bulls, 18-13, to open the Northern Elite Football League season in Cottage Grove, Minn.
Rage quarterback Keldric Stokes completed four of seven passes for 99 yards and a touchdown, and running back Chris Henigan had 27 rushes for 93 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Dre Sherill had two catches for 67 yards and a score.
The Rage open the home season at 3:30 p.m. Saturday against the Chippewa Valley Predators at the Duluth East football field, in a rematch of a 2012 league playoff game. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for students and free for those 13 and younger.
