MILWAUKEE -- John Salmons scored 22 points and the Milwaukee Bucks never let up after a hot start in a 107-89 NBA first-round playoff victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night.

Atlanta still leads the series 2-1 after two double-digit victories at home.

Joe Johnson scored 25 for Atlanta. Game 4 is Monday night in Milwaukee.

  • Jameer Nelson scored 32 points and the Orlando Magic overcame Dwight Howard's continuing foul trouble to beat the host Charlotte Bobcats 90-86 on Saturday, taking a commanding 3-0 lead in their NBA first-round playoff series.
  • Brandon Roy made a surprising return from knee surgery and scored 10 points, including a key 3-pointer in the fourth quarter, and the Portland Trail Blazers evened their playoff series with the Phoenix Suns at two games apiece with a 96-87 victory on Saturday. LaMarcus Aldridge had 31 points and 11 rebounds for the Blazers.

    Amare Stoudemire led the Suns with 26 points. The series returns to Phoenix on Monday night.

    Osiecki named coach

    COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Mark Osiecki was announced Saturday as Ohio State's new men's ice hockey head coach. The top assistant at Wisconsin the last six years, Osiecki replaces John Markell, who was fired after last season.

    Osiecki, a native of Burnsville, Minn., also served as head coach and general manager of the Green Bay Gamblers in the United States Hockey League for seven seasons. A former Wisconsin defenseman, he played in the NHL for six seasons.

    Blackhawks take 3-2 lead

    CHICAGO -- Patrick Kane's short-handed goal tied the game with 13.6 seconds left in regulation and Marian Hossa came out of the penalty box to score the winner in overtime as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Nashville Predators 5-4 on Saturday to take a 3-2 lead in the NHL first-round playoff series. Chicago can advance in the Western Conference playoffs with a win at Nashville on Monday night.

    The Blackhawks blew a 3-1 lead, and the Predators took a 4-3 lead on two third-period goals by Martin Erat.

    Mr. Irrelevant picked

    ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- This year's Mr. Irrelevant is wide receiver Tim Toone of Weber State. The Detroit Lions picked Toone with the 255th and final pick of the NFL draft on Saturday. The final pick generally gets saddled with the moniker, though some players picked last do just fine.

    Bohn keeps Zurich lead

    AVONDALE, La. -- Jason Bohn shot a 5-under 67 Saturday to take a four-stroke lead with a 132 total at the weather-plagued Zurich Classic. John Senden and Jeff Overton were tied for second after both shot 69s.

    The rain and lightning that stopped play on Friday and delayed it Saturday morning gave way to strong winds gusting to more than 40 mph.
