SAN FRANCISCO — On a night where Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love hoped to make an impression, it was his counterpart Trey Lance that stole the show.

Lance completed 4 of 5 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown to help San Francisco defeat Jordan Love and Green Bay in Santa Clara, Calif.

Love went for 176 yards on 13-for-24 passing and two touchdowns, but he struggled to solve the 49ers' secondary, throwing three interceptions.

Packers receiver B.J. Baylor turned heads, though, taking a catch and run 68 yards to the San Francisco 15-yard line. Baylor finished his night with two catches for 75 yards to lead the team in receiving.

Tyler Goodson, a rookie from Iowa, led Green Bay in rushing with 37 yards on 12 carries, while adding two catches for 24 yards.

Green Bay will be back in action Friday, Aug. 19 when they host New Orleans.

In the NASCAR Cup Series' first Round of 12 race, which will be followed by races at Talladega Superspeedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway's road course before the next round of cuts, it was non-playoff driver Reddick and his Chevrolet who drove to victory lane for the third time in 2022.
The rise of Anthony Edwards and offseason acquisition of Rudy Gobert has the Timberwolves, and their fans, thinking big — in more ways than one. Expectations are high and reasons for optimism are plentiful.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound receiver out of LSU will be the focus of most, if not all opposing defenses for the rest of the season. He’s just that good. With Jefferson taken out of the offense, Adam Thielen (six catches, 61 yards and a touchdown) and Osborn (5-73-1) got the lion’s share of Cousins’ targets, which was enough to beat the Lions on Sunday.
But the biennial showdown was far from the blowout predicted, ending in a respectable 17½ to 12½ scoreline.
