Prep report: Tigers run into buzzsaw vs. St. Croix Falls

An unbeaten St. Croix Falls baseball team ranked fifth in Wisconsin Division 3 imposed its will on Northwestern in Heart O'North play on Thursday, defeating the Tigers 9-2.

St. Croix Falls employed three pitchers and strong defense to limit Northwestern to four hits. The Tigers' runs came from RBI singles by Cole Lahti and Luke Sedin, while Kole Paulson reached base three times on two walks and a hit.

Proctor 5, Cloquet 3

Kennan Reyelts and Wyatt Mineheine combined to hold Cloquet to one earned run on seven hits in the Lake Superior Conference game at Cloquet.

Reyelts pitched the first five innings for the win and Mineheine the last two for the save.

Tanner Ross went 3-for-4 and stole a base for the Proctor offense.

Qwentin Bailey was 3-for-3 to lead Cloquet, who got six innings from pitcher Ashton Stansfield. Stanfield allowed five runs, all unearned on eight hits.

Duluth Marshall 9, Grand Rapids 4

Max Berrisford scattered 10 hits over seven innings to earn his second win in as many starts as a freshman pitcher for the Hilltoppers. He struck out four without a walk.

Owen Marsolek went 3-for-4 and drove in two for Marshall, while Berrisford had a double, triple and two RBIs. Mason Boos and Ethen Carlson added two hits apiece.

Ben Keske, Myles Gunderson and David Wohlers had two hits apiece for the Thunderhawks.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Duluth 14, Proctor/Hermantown 7

Anna Zellmer and Ella Brisbois scored five goals apiece as the Wolfpack earned the win in the matchup of St. Louis County lacrosse programs.

Zellmer controlled 11 draws for Duluth. Grace Karakas and Hannah Martin kicked in two goals apiece.

SOFTBALL

Hermantown 8, Cloquet 6

Ella Seboe had three hits including a double for the Hawks, who got a pair of doubles and an RBI from Camille Wikstrom and a pair of RBIs from Emily Gustafson.

Natalie Vitek was the winning pitcher, allowing four runs on five hits. She walked seven, but struck out 13.

For Cloquet, Allie Jones allowed six runs on nine hits, walked seven and struck out three. Dana Jones and Reina Diver contributed two hits apiece.

Moose Lake/Willow River 2, Carlton/Wrenshall 0

The Rebels' Alexis Hoffman held the Raptors to two hits and struck out 10. Four MLWR players had a hit apiece, with Sandra Ribich and Natalie Mikrot getting a double and RBI apiece.

Abby Mitchell took the loss despite allowing two earned runs on four hits and striking out 12.
