DULUTH — Rock Ridge boys hockey evened its record at 8-8-1 and surprised No. 6-ranked Duluth Denfeld on its home rink with a 6-2 win on Thursday at Essentia Duluth Heritage Center.

The Hunters beat the Wolverines by the same score in their first meeting on Dec. 14, which was the inaugural Wolverines game at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center in Virginia.

On Wednesday, Brant Tiedeman and Nick Troutwine staked Rock Ridge to an early 2-0 lead before the midpoint of the first period, and though Logan Nylund put the Hunters on the board 1:16 into the second, Dylan Hedley made it 3-1 just 26 seconds later before Tiedeman's second goal of the game made it 4-1.

Ian Kangas made 32 saves and Brennan Peterson scored a pair of third-period goals for the Wolverines.
