Esko baseball got a huge day from the top of its batting order in a 15-7 home victory over Mora on Friday, May 20.
Seven of the Eskomos' 10 hits and 11 of their 13 RBIs came from Sam Haugen, Isaak Sertich and Cale Haugen in the first three spots in the batting order.
The visitors scored the first three runs, but Esko racked up eight in the second inning to take the lead. The Mustangs closed to within 8-6, but three runs in the fifth inning and four in the sixth put the win away.
Cale Haugen finished 3-for-5 with two homers and a double. He drove in five runs. Sertich had a pair of hits including a dinger, while Sam Haugen two doubles, two RBIs, walked twice and scored twice.
Finn Furcht pitched, allowing six runs, four earned, on five hits in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out six and walked five.

Hermantown 8, Chisago Lakes 7
Chase Carlson's seeing-eye single scored Wylee Arro with the winning run in the seventh inning of the Hawks' victory in Cloquet.
Northwood/Solon Springs 4, Bloomer 3
Kaden Corlett's RBI single broke a 3-3 tie in the ninth inning for N/SS.
Corlett and Tanner Carlson divided the pitching duties, with Corlett striking out 10 and allowing one earned run on two hits in 4 2/3 innings before Carlson allowed one run on three hits over the last 4 1/3.
Carlson and Jared Schultz had two hits apiece for the 17-2 Eagles, ranked third in Wisconsin Division 4. The Blackhawks are 16-3.
SOFTBALL
Hermantown 5, Chisago Lakes 4
Avery Farrell's walk-off hit allowed the Hawks to upset the No. 3-ranked team in Minnesota AAA despite falling behind 3-0 in the early going.
Natalie Vitek allowed two earned runs on eight hits and struck out 17 for the Hawks and also went 2-for-3 at the plate. Lindsey Ewer had a pair of RBIs and a double.
Duluth Marshall 10, Silver Bay 8 (10 innings)
Avery Beranek went the distance for the Hilltoppers in the marathon contest, allowing two earned runs on eight hits, while striking out 11.

Caroline Anderson, Beranek and Anna Hron had three-hit games for the Hilltoppers, with Anderson hitting a homer, Beranek two doubles and Hron a double and triple.
Hannah Thums, Brooke Velcheff, Hope Ernest and Katie Carpenter all had two hits for the Hilltoppers, with Ernest homering.
Moore Lake/Willow River 13, Barnum 3
Hallie Klavu went 3-for-5, scored twice and drove in a run. Three other Rebels had two hits apiece.
Sarah Christy pitched five innings in relief, allowing one unearned run on three hits. She struck out seven in reaching 100 K's for the season.
Lacey O'Leary had a two-run homer for the Bombers.
