Cloquet-Esko-Carlton put 11 shots on the goal on Saturday, but couldn't get any of them past Columbia Heights goalkeeper Mark Agudo Medina in a 1-0 loss.

The defensive performance from the visitors held up an early eighth-minute goal from Haakon Christianson.

Walker Marquardt made five stops for CEC.

The Spartans scored five times after the break to overcome a 2-1 halftime deficit for a big win at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

Sarah Turner and Avery Carlson scored for the Lumberjacks and Kiley Issendorf assisted on both goals as the Lumberjacks won their home opener and split their opening weekend of play.
