Hermantown senior Ashley Winberg repeated as Section 7 Alpine skiing girls champion Tuesday at Giants Ridge, completing two downhill runs more than three seconds ahead of the next fastest competitor.
Winberg was timed in 1 minute, 20.52 seconds, finishing with the fastest time on both runs to qualify for the Minnesota state meet next Wednesday back at the Biwabik-area ski hill.
Reilly Wahlers of Cook County-Silver Bay was runner-up in 1:23.66, while Ashley Winberg's twin sister, Kendra, was fourth.
In the boys race, Mounds View's Kaarl Damberg claimed the individual title in 1:14.90, just 28-hundredths of a second faster than Hermantown's Thomas Borash. Cloquet-Esko-Carlton's Thomas Heren was third.
Stillwater won both team titles, with the girls beating out runner-up Cook County-Silver Bay and the boys finishing ahead of Duluth East. Champions and second-place teams both qualify for state.
