Brandie Goldberg tossed a three-hitter and struck out 16 but the Superior pitcher gave up a game-tying home run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and hit a batter with the bases loaded in the ninth in the Spartans’ 2-1 loss to D.C. Everest in a Wisconsin Division 1 high school softball regional playoff game Friday in Schofield.
Maggie Plaza hit the tying home run on a two-strike pitch to force extra innings.
Natalie Olson drove in the lone run for the Spartans.

Nick Emanuel continued his torrid season by going 3-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the Eskomos to the nonconference road win.
Emanuel homered to highlight a 15-hit attack. Cole Litsey had three of those hits, drove in two runs and scored twice.
