Pedersen limited the Greyhounds to one hit and a run while striking out eight over five innings.

Teammate Cole Maccoux notched a pair of hits and drove in three runs, and Peter Hansen and Derrick Winn each had two hits and two RBIs.

Superior 11, Duluth Denfeld 3

Isaac Rios' big day included a home run, triple and six RBIs as the Spartans rolled past the Hunters in a Lake Superior Conference game at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

Hermantown's Bang reaches milestone

Longtime Hermantown coach Tom Bang won the 700th and 701st games of his career over the weekend.

Playing in Grand Rapids, the Hawks defeated Bemidji 9-6 and Princeton 11-0.

Bang, the program's only coach since it started in 1978, has led Hermantown to 23 state tournaments, three of which have ended with championships.

Virginia 8, Carlton 7

The Blue Devils rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to force bonus softball, and Madeline Potts' homer ended the the game in the eighth as Virginia won at home.
