Prep report: Monroe’s 6 treys lift Hilltoppers

Chisholm scored 43 first-half points en route to a 34-point victory over Duluth Denfeld.

Duluth Marshall’s Laila Monroe hit six 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead Hilltoppers to a 73-37 girls basketball win at Eveleth-Gilbert Monday.

Marshall jumped out to a 44-20 lead at halftime and cruised to the 36-point win over the Golden Bears.

In addition to Monroe, Ava Meierotto scored 18 points, Regan Juenemann had 14 and Anna Saari scored 11.

Eveleth-Gilbert was led by nine points from Anna Westby.

Chisholm 74, Duluth Denfeld 40

Chisholm’s Jordan Temple scored 20 points to lead the Bluejackets to a 74-40 win at Duluth Denfeld Monday.


Selah Reinertson scored 14 for the Hunters, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the Bluejackets’ 43 first-half points.

In addition to Temple, Tresa Baumgard scored 19 points and Olivia Hutchings had 10.

Mesabi East 52, Floodwood 31

The Mesabi East defense held Floodwood to just 14 first-half points as the Giants defeated the Polar Bears 52-31.

Mesabi East’s Kora Forsline led all scorers with 14 points and Alexa Fossell had 10.

Nakaiyah Nimene scored 18 to lead Floodwood and Alice Irvine had 12 for the Polar Bears.
