Mountain Iron-Buhl overcame a second-half deficit to beat Ada-Borup 53-45 in the Class A high school girls basketball fifth-place game Saturday at the Gangelhoff Center at Concordia-St. Paul.
Ada-Borup (27-4) led 35-33 until Macy Savela hit a 3-pointer with 11:18 to play, giving the Rangers (27-6) the lead for good.
Allie Negen scored 14 of her game-high 23 points and hits three of her four 3-pointers in the second half as MIB pulled away down the stretch.
Kora Kitzberger led the Cougars with 17 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL
State field mostly set
Three of the four state tournament brackets were unveiled Saturday, with the Class AA field to be announced this morning.
In Class A, Northland entrants Cromwell-Wright and North Woods could meet in the semifinals if both get past their quarterfinal opponents. The Cardinals are unseeded and oppose No. 2 Ada-Borup, which is 28-1, in the first round Thursday at Williams Arena. The Grizzlies earned the third seed and face unseeded Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Thursday immediately after Cromwell-Wright’s game.
North Woods has reached each of the past two Class A championship games, falling both times.
Esko will play Wednesday in a Class AA quarterfinal either at Williams Arena or Target Center, and the Eskomos will find out today who they’ll match up against and at what time.
