Duluth Marshall went on the road to stun No. 1 Cloquet-Carlton 2-0 in a Section 7A girls soccer semifinal Tuesday night.
Lucy Campbell scored in the first half and Gianna Kneepkens doubled the margin in the second for the fourth-seeded Hilltoppers, who kept the Lumberjacks' high-powered senior, Kendra Kelley, off the scoreboard. Kelley, among the most prolific scorers in the state, came in averaging about two goals a game.
Cloquet-Carlton's only previous loss this season came on Sept. 6, 1-0 vs. Bemidji. The Lumberjacks had won 13 in a row.
Natalie Welinski made five saves for Marshall, which moves into Thursday's section final vs. No. 2 Chisago Lakes, a shootout winner over Hermantown after the teams played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie.

Julian Beckrich's heroics late in double overtime lifted the Hunters to a heart-stopping Section 7A semifinal win at Public Schools Stadium.
Beckrich scored in the 96th minute off a feed from Jon Faynik, and goalkeeper Eric Gibson notched his ninth shutout of the season as No. 1 seed Denfeld advanced to Thursday's section final vs. Grand Rapids.
A.J. Harris finished with 18 saves for the fifth-seeded Hawks.
• The Hunters' Scott Anderson on Tuesday was named the Class A boys soccer coach of the year by the coaches association.

David Chandler and Seamus Stanley scored on penalty kicks three minutes apart in the first half, and Hayden DeMars made it stand as the Thunderhawks blanked the visiting Hilltoppers in a Section 7A semifinal.
DeMars stopped all nine shots he faced for second-seeded Grand Rapids, which opposes Denfeld at 8 p.m. Thursday at Ordean Stadium.

Eveleth-Gilbert duo wins 7A
Senior Audrey Delich and eighth-grader Lydia Delich defeated Virginia's Anna Seitz and Ava Warren 6-2, 6-2 to win the Section 7A doubles title Tuesday at Virginia.
The Deliches and Seitz and Warren all advance to next week's Class A state tournament at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
Virginia's Mary Skorich was the only Northland player to win a singles match, downing Pine City's Ella Sell in the quarterfinals and Pierz' Val Gall for third place.

Claire Vekich's 24 kills powered the Raiders to a 25-20, 25-21, 25-10 sweep in the Iron Range Conference championship match in Coleraine.
Greenway's Erin Gustason totaled 31 set assists.

The host Lumberjacks snapped the Hawks' six-match winning streak via a 25-14, 27-25, 17-25, 25-23 victory in Lake Superior Conference action.
Savannah Sears paced Cloquet with 15 kills and 14 digs. Teammates Emerson Rock and Natalie Spath had 23 assists and 21 digs, respectively.
