Citing a lack of officials, Esko has moved up its homecoming football game against Aitkin to a 4:30 p.m. kickoff Friday. The contest previously was scheduled for a traditional 7 p.m. start.
Playing earlier will free up the officiating crew to work Proctor's home game vs. Cloquet that same night, which has been bumped back to 7:30.
A shortage of officials is becoming an increasing concern in the Northland - and beyond. Last month, Butch Glesner, who assigns games for the local Twin Ports Football Officials Association, told the News Tribune: "It's to the point now where we're asking teams to move their games from Friday night to Thursday or Saturday."
