The White team blew a 28-point second-half lead but came back to beat the Red 95-87 in the Pride of the Northeast high school boys basketball all-star game Thursday night at Mesabi Range Community College in Virginia.
The White led 58-35 at halftime and increased the lead to 63-35 before the Red rallied to take a one-point lead late in the game. The White, buoyed by 10 overall 3-pointers and 16 points by MVP Michael Johnson of Grand Rapids, fought off the challenge.
Jordan Deutsch of Mountain Iron-Buhl added 15 points and a trio of 3-pointers for the White and Nick Toland of Duluth East scored 14. Travis Whiting of Mesabi East led the Red with 15 points.
The Bigfork duo of Adrianna Ivanovic (22 points) and Megan Powell (20) shared MVP honors for leading the Red to an 84-79 win over the White in the girls game. Lindsey Kingsbury of Nashwauk-Keewatin led the White with 19 points.
