Prep report: 'Jacks trump Hunters in boys basketball

Adam Schneider's 25 points canceled out the 25 scored by Duluth Denfeld's Armon Freeman as Cloquet edged the Hunters 56-53 in a Lake Superior Conference boys basketball game Tuesday at Denfeld.

Alex Leuzzo tacked on 19 points for the Lumberjacks (3-5), who snapped a five-game losing streak.

Joe Cvancara had 18 points for the Hunters (2-4).

Proctor 51, Barnum 49

Connor St. Germaine scored 23 points to help the visiting Rails overcome a 23-17 halftime deficit and win the nonconference matchup.

North Woods 81, Barnum 79

Sasha Strong's basket at the buzzer lifted the Grizzlies to the nonconference win at Cook.

Cloquet 57, Hermantown 54

The host Lumberjacks used a 42-27 second-half run to down the Hawks in an LSC contest.

BOYS HOCKEY

Duluth East 3, Centennial 2

Garrett Johnson scored his first varsity goal as the fourth-ranked Greyhounds slipped past the host Cougars.

Proctor-Hermantown 11, Superior 1

Sydney Skorich scored two goals and the Mirage had 10 goal-scorers for the first time in team history in the LSC win at Hermantown.
